Crystal clear water rushing through slippery gray, tan and black rocks while running on down the leafy, cool, tree shaded stream.
Happy smiles on everyone’s face and the soft tinkle of laughter.
Two Christians plunging into the icy cold water, and coming up baptized and feeling renewed.
Food being passed around and shared one and all alike.
Teens, kids and adults playing soccer, whiffle ball, volleyball and taking hikes in the lovely refreshing green hued canopy of the Muglizh woods.
Dinko Zlatarov diving into the freezing, bone chilling waters and clowning around.
People rejoicing in God’s love and provision for His people.
And pleasant conversation for everyone with a listening ear and a willing voice.
Yes, all of this and more took place at the recent Vuzrazhdane Church baptism celebration and picnic at the lovely and quaint village of Muglizh.
In late September, the church met as a group and car pooled it to Muglizh. This is a very beautiful area just across the Sredna Gora Mountains on the way to Kazanluk.
Just outside of the village, and up some hills, there is a wonderful area where you can camp, have a picnic, fish or just relax. As a church, we took advantage of the very good weather and had a wonderful time of friendship, fellowship and fun.
It was encouraging to see these three saints make the commitment to follow Jesus’ example of obedience to be baptized. Surely, they pondered Christ’s death and resurrection as they were dipped into the icy breath catching waters. Then, as they came up into the warm sunlight, they must have remembered how they were cleansed by the blood of the Lamb, when they first believed.
As it says in Romans 6: 3-4, “Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may life a new life.”
All of us at Vuzrazhdane Church rejoiced at the commitment of these young Christians. So what was missing?
Only that you were not there to rejoice together with us.Keith Brown
