The greatest Christian day is Easter namely because Easter is the completion of the redemption of humanity. Without the resurrection of Christ it is impossible to talk about salvation and eternal life. It is because the resurrection of the Savior was preceded by his suffering and death on the Roman cross, that we as a church celebrate both Good Friday and Easter with special services.
Our Christian faith requires that we accept death and resurrection as a way that each believer has to travel. Life itself consists of pain and joy, death and resurrection. The pain caused by illness, loss or broken relationship kills our potential and ability to celebrate life. Joy on the other hand increases our potentials and resurrects us for life.
The way of Christ goes between the cross and the empty tomb. Both are to be present in the life of every Christian as symbols of death and eternal life. Forgetting one or the other makes the church live in extremes. On one hand, if we focus on the cross only, we will end up celebrating death and expect another, otherworldly life. But Christ died for the sake of life. Life has to have the last word. On the other hand if we forget the cross and turn to the empty tomb only, then grace and joy will become cheap.
At Good Friday evening Awakening church got together for a service in order to honor the price with which we have been bought.
On the Easter morning the joy was prevailing. Easter songs were sung and prayers were prayed with great excitement. In his Easter massage called “Jacob's ladder” pastor Luchev explained the dream of Jacob in the light of the sacrifice and the resurrection of Christ. This great patriarch of Israel dreamed of a ladder. The dream was a prophetic symbol, which revealed God's plan for the future. Christ is the ladder which came down from heaven. His glorious resurrection opens the door to the Kingdom of Heaven for us. He brings us into the center of God's will for us – the Fathers eternal embrace.
Christ – that Word that became flesh is the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through Him!
Christ is risen!
