One of the special things about Awakening is the focus on
the family. The godly marriage is one of our core values
for our church community. In the recent years, the Bulgarian
family experiences severe crisis. Due to the degradation
of morals, the invasion of western individualism and materialism
and the stressed out life, many families are at the edge
of breaking up. Major part of the members of our congregation
are young families which have to orient themselves in the
hostile environment. Here Awakening is playing a major role
in educating and training people how to put faith in God
and their marriage together and be Christlike in their marital
life.
One of the ministries which we are very proud of is the family home groups. Those group focus on the life in the family. In those groups people share experiences and get insights of how to improve life with one another. Every now and then, the leaders organize a family party, which is open to all members of the congregation. Usually every such party is an evening of celebrating the family and marriage. It has a formal part in which one of the leaders of the church shares a massage which is relevant to the marriage, and a non-formal part in which we enjoy the food which everybody brings form their homes.
The topic of our last marriage party was “The purpose driven life“, which addressed the issues of having purposes in life and how devastating the lack of purpose can be to the marital relationship. Everyone of the people who were present was challenged to thing about the main purposes in life.
Latter on we enjoyed the fellowships with one another. There was much food, interactive games and lots of fun. It was great to see so many families getting together and declaring that they want to keep improving their relationship with one another.
