The
month of December was emblematic because of two special
ordination services.
The first ordination took place on the Christmas party of the Region Stara Zagora, on which all the ministers of StaraZagora region were presented. Part of the official program was the ordination of Stilian Mihailov. Brother Stilian has been involved in the work of the region for the last year and half and for the last half a year has been assistant of the regional overseer. He has been ordained as deacon in Messiah Church of God and ever since has been devoted to helping all local churches in Stara Zagora and region. His ordination as presbyter was demanded by his position in the regional council and ministry at Awakening Church of God. Stilian is one of the founders of Awakening and since its founding has served faithfully as one of its Assistant pastors. His ordination was performed at the regional pastoral meeting because of the dimension of Stilian’s work. Being assistant regional overseer, he is well respected man and his ordination made the Christmas party even more special. He was ordained with lying on of hands of the presbyters of the regional council and appointed as presbyter. Stilian’s ordination was announced at Awakening as well and the congregation of our church prayed with prayer of blessing for Stilian and his wife Iliana.
The second ordination service was held Awakening. It became one of the most exciting services not only for the month of December, but for the whole year. On this service two men from our congregation were appointer as deacons. This is the first ordination of deacons since the start of Awakening in March 2003 and was demanded by the natural growth of our ministry. We believe that one church grows in the right way, only is responsibilities are delegated to people that have passion for God and are full of the Spirit.
David Listrum is from US but has been serving as a missionary in Bulgaria since 1993. He is married for Hrisana Listrum and has two children – Joshua and Benjamin.
David is a team leader of the International Teams – Worldwide Missionary organization from US. He is of the founders of Awakening Church of God and from its beginning has been leader of the Family ministries at the church. His ministry has proved to be very fruitful not only for Awakening but for all churches in our town.
Vesko … is also a man of integrity. He has been born in the home of one of the first Pentecostal Christians in southern Bulgaria. He lived his whole life devoted to the Lord and the ministry to several local churches. He is one of the coordinators of the Social ministries at Awakening and is especially devoted to helping poor and needy people. He is married to sister Kinche and has two sons.
Both families have great influence at our church and have nurtured many in the faith. The ordination of br. David and br. Vesko was performed in total agreement of the congregation and brought much joy to all.
We pray that our newly ordained ministers and their families would enjoy long and blessed years of service before the Lord!
