General Vision
• To build up a healthy and full-functioning
Christian community that is committed to permanent spiritual
growth and perfection.
• To encourage life and ministry based on principles
found in the Word of God.
• To raise the values of marriage, friendship and
tolerance.
• To share the Good News effectively with non-
believers through love and care.
Vision 2004
Our vision for 2004 was: “Mobilizing the Potential”.
Each one of us is uniquely gifted by God to do the work of the Gospel. Following
the Protestant tradition, we strongly believe in the “priesthood of all believers”.
Every Christian is to be involved in active ministry. For that purpose each
one of the members of our congregation has to identify his/her natural and
spiritual gifts and reach his/her maximum potential in God.
In the year of 2004, God challenged us to reflect on each individual’s gifting
and place them in ministry so that they are built up in their faith and contribute
to the growth of the whole community. God is the Master who gives good gifts,
but He wants to make sure that we have invested them well and use them for
His glory.
Vision 2005
The vision of Awakening for 2005 is: “Grow up, dive deep, stretch wide!”
Our vision is based on apostle Paul’s prayer for the church in Ephesus,
in which he states: I pray that you, being rooted and established in love,
may have power, together with all saints, to grasp how wide and long and
high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpases
all knowledge – that you might be filled to the measure of all the fullness
of God (Eph. 3:17-19).
Growing up is about getting to know the height of God’s Love. It is about
growing in understanding and knowledge of our faith in God. In 2005 Awakening
will put some extra efforts to strengthen the work with our children and
find better ways to communicate with them the values and believes of Christianity.
We appeal to all parents and workers in the Sunday school to exemplify Christ
and help their upbringing in the faith.
Diving deep is about exploring the depth of the love of God. We want to encourage
all teenagers and youth of Awakening to find out the will of God for their
lives and commit their lives to fulfilling it.
Stretching wide is about understanding and experiencing the width and the length
of the love of God which often is reviled to us in our relationship with others
who are following Him. We grow to know God by knowing others. That is why we
encourage all members of Awakening to create new friendships with believers
and nonbelievers so that each one of us can expand his/her own ministry to
others.
